New Building Code Guidelines Released to Strengthen Safety Standards

BASE recently released updated building code guidelines to improve safety and resilience in urban construction. With Bangladesh’s rapid urbanization, these guidelines incorporate requirements for earthquake and flood-resistant structures. According to the report, adherence to these guidelines is expected to reduce structural damages by 30% in vulnerable zones. The document, available to all BASE members, also provides insight into sustainable material usage, with a 10% increase in recommendations for eco-friendly alternatives.
